Our History

Enman Engineering was founded in 1982 by Blair Enman, PE, with the goal of providing cost effective engineering solutions for private and public sector clients.  Blair has been practicing engineering in Vermont since 1973, and has been licensed as a Vermont professional civil and sanitary engineer since 1977. In addition he has held licenses in New Hampshire, New York, and Georgia.

Blair started Enman Engineering in the basement of his house in Clarendon in 1982 and by 1984 established an office in Rutland, and was working with clients such as Killington & Pico Ski Areas, HUD Housing Developments, Rutland Industrial Development Corporation, and other projects extending from Bennington to Brattleboro, Stratton to Manchester, Rutland and Killington. In 1984 Enman Engineering was a staff of two, but by early 1990 had expanded to a staff of nine in two offices, Ludlow and Rutland.

Nicole Kesselring, PE, joined the firm in 2004 and became a partner in 2010.  The firm’s name was changed to Enman Kesselring Consulting Engineers in 2012 to reflect Nicole’s involvement in the firm. In 2016 Enman Kesselring became registered as a small women-owned minority business.

Over the years the business has provided engineering services and played a role in the growth and development for many of Rutland County and Southern Vermont’s instrumental projects.  Some notable projects include Killington Ski Area (water and wastewater systems), REDC’s Airport Industrial Park – North Clarendon, REDC’s Industrial Park on Quality Lane – Rutland, Community College of Vermont – Rutland,  Heritage Family Credit Union Operations Center – Rutland, and Mt. Equinox Visitors Center – Arlington.

Our commitment to providing high quality and cost effective engineering solutions for projects of all sizes remains as strong today as it was when Blair started the business in 1982.

BLAIR J. ENMAN, P.E. Founding Partner

Blair established Enman Engineering in 1982 and until 2015 was the President and founder of Enman · Kesselring. With an engineering passion for the private sector and industry, Blair constructed a solid foundation and future for the firm.

Since his first engineering employment in an engineering office in 1970, Blair has greater than 45 years’ experience in solving complex engineering issues; melding clients’ goals, ambitions and fiscal constraints with regulatory process, all the while seeking economical and technically valid solutions.

Blair’s has a passion for hydraulic and pumping systems having worked on projects with pumps discharging 1,500 gpm and pressures near 800 psi, not normal for Vermont. Civil engineering is mostly hydraulics, controlling the flow of water either by gravity or by pumps.

In his free time Blair enjoys guitar and piano, cooking (and eating), skiing, sailing, golfing, snowshoeing, and sharing his homes in Rutland Town and on the shores of Lake Bomoseen with family, friends and grandchildren.

Blair received his Associates in Civil and Highway Engineering from Wentworth Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University.
